As I said in my last blog I am going to try and give justice to the “treasures” I’ve put away over the years.
Each one triggers a memory of some type and I’m going to try and put them to words in a way that isn’t too boring, at least I hope not.
The focus is on my adventures is the period between 1974 and 1980 when I was a member of the Toronto Scottish Regimental Pipes and Drums. The caliber of performances the band put on was always impressive with Military precision and professionalism and we were often invited to play at festivals and other events.
However, this was a Canadian militia regiment which meant it was a part time gig for most of the bands members. As a consequence, many of the shows and trips we undertook had a “when in Vegas” undercurrent – that is at times kind of crazy.
Rather than just jump right in to the good stuff, I thought it would be useful if I’d provide some background; context for the stories covered in the blogs.
You are quite welcome to skip these (really how can I stop you?), but I promise to try and keep them short and not too painful.
After these next few bits, each treasure and the story behind them are presented in no set order.
Next up, the beginning, enjoy.
